JEFFERSON CITY, MO —Governor Mike Parson proclaimed October as “Let’s Talk Month.” This proclamation seeks to raise awareness of the importance of open, honest and ongoing communication with youth about all aspects of health and encouraging lifelong healthy practices. To support this endeavor, the Adolescent and School Health Program within the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) is sharing information about resources to help make these conversations a bit easier.

In recognition of breast cancer awareness this October, the Polk County Health Center hopes to raise awareness of a program designed to empower women to prioritize their health. Through the Show Me Healthy Women program, the center provides free initial care for breast and cervical cancers which are aimed at improving health outcomes and reducing the risks of cancer through early detection.

Bolivar soccer is looking to finish strong as they prepare to move into the postseason. Last week the Liberators hosted conference opponent Branson on Oct. 17 in a final regular season home match where they celebrated senior night with a 2-1 win over the Pirates.
