The Clara Building was built in 1884 to house the R.B. Viles Dry Goods store and was named in honor of his young daughter Clara. Over the years, until just recently, the store had been continually used as a clothing and dry goods store. Delarue’s Department Store (where my mother took me shopping before school started each year); Alyce’s Closet (which many of us remember fondly; and the Village Boutique has all occupied this building. more

Liberator soccer prevailed in their match at home against Rolla on Tuesday, Sept. 5. The team showed fantastic perseverance throughout a physical game. Headed by seniors and captains Jonathon Peters and Ben Tull the defense withstood Rolla’s aggressive offense. Standing out with many crucial saves to secure the overtime victory was sophomore goalkeeper Wyatt Viles. more

Citizens Memorial Hospice is hosting bereavement support group classes starting Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 5:30 p.m. at CMH Douglas Medical Center, Classroom C, 1155 W. Parkview St., in Bolivar. Participants will use the North entrance, “Information Services” door. more

The Rolla Bulldogs started the Labor Day weekend with a football game in Bolivar's home field Plaster Stadium. Rolla came off a loss to Camdenton the week before 41-21. They brought a young team and a new coach trying to find some traction for their first win. more
