The Polk County Genealogical Society (PCGS) is once again offering the service of placing flowers on graves for Memorial Day. Orders may be made through May 1, 2023. The choices for flowers will be either a small spray placed by the stone or a saddle placed over the top of the stone. The cost for the saddle is $50 and the bouquet is $20. Deliveries can be made to cemeteries in Polk County.

The Polk County Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting tomorrow, Thursday, April 6. The speaker for the evening will be Jim Hamilton, former editor of the Bolivar Herald-Free Press and the Buffalo Reflex. Hamilton continues to write columns for the Herald-Free Press and the Reflex.

On Monday, March 27, Governor Mike Parson attended a joint meeting of the Bolivar Memorial DAV Chapter 66 and Auxiliary. During his remarks he shared thoughts and insights from a governor’s perspective, and some of the highlights and bumps encountered along the way during his tenure as Missouri’s chief executive. His presentation was heartfelt and greatly enjoyed by his fellow DAV members.
