Community Outreach Ministries (COM) is hosting their second annual “Polk County’s Got Talent” fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 23, at Bolivar High School at 6:30 pm. A spinoff of the popular television talent show, America’s Got Talent, the fundraising event will highlight the talent of ten local individuals and groups. The event benefits Community Outreach Ministries which seeks to alleviate food insecurity in Polk County through their food pantry and community development programs. more

Sam and Liz Schuber and family, of Flemington, were among the families honored during the 66th annual Missouri Farm Family Day, Aug. 14, at the Missouri State Fair. The Schuber family was selected as the Polk County Missouri Farm Family by University of Missouri Extension in Polk County and the Polk County Farm Bureau. The family includes sons Jackson and Jacob. more

Southwest Electric Cooperative will hold their 84th annual meeting on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Bolivar High School. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting begins at 10 a.m. more
The Bolivar School District has called for an election on Nov. 7, 2023, for the residents within their boundaries. Absentee voting will start on Sept. 26. The Polk County Clerk’s office will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday and open through the lunch hour for absentee voting. The deadline for casting an absentee ballot in person at the County Clerk’s office is 5 p.m. the day before the election, Tuesday, Nov. 7. The County Clerk’s office will also be open on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 8 a.m. to noon. more

The demolition of the blighted and abandoned house on South Clark Avenue, immediately south of Girl Scout Park, was a project several years in the making. A crew from DCBC, LLC, in Bolivar volunteered to work with the City of Bolivar Public Works team to tear down the city-owned building on Thursday, Sept. 7. Within just a few hours, the crews had the dangerous building torn down. The City is working with Friends of Bolivar Parks on future plans for the site. more

The 18th annual Bill Maack Memorial Horse Show will be held Sept. 16, at the Bolivar Saddle Club arena located just east of Hwy 13 and 32 Junction. Start time is 6:30 p.m. more
Saturday, Sept. 10, was the perfect day for the annual Country Days event. There was something for everyone, numerous vendors, food to please everyone, entertainment on the streets and games for youngsters to enjoy! The square and adjoining streets were overflowing, the event just gets bigger and better every year. The Downtown Bolivar Association and all the volunteers worked long hours to bring the community another outstanding and fun day to the community. more
