Bearcat football kicker Logan Turner added to his accolades as he is one of 46 student-athletes across the Nation to earn a Division II 50th Anniversary Scholarship. The NCAA Division II announced on Monday evening at the Division II Festival that Turner is the sole male recipient from the Great Lakes Valley Conference. more
“What a wonderful finish to a great year,” said Coach Daniel Bayless, “in fact, this was a record year for our performance at the state level. Bayless has recorded every All-State athlete Bolivar has ever had in Track and Field since MSHSAA started the state competition back in the 1930s. “This year, 2024, tied with 2011 for achieving the most All-State honors. Both years we earned All-State in five events, but in 2011 Bolivar was a Class 3 school. Now we are competing at the class 4 level with bigger schools. Like I said, a record-breaking year.” more
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites the public to get hooked on fishing through its Free Fishing Days on June 8 and 9. During Free Fishing Days, anyone may fish in the Show-Me State without having to buy a fishing permit, trout permit, or trout park daily tag. Free Fishing Days is an annual MDC event that takes place statewide during the Saturday and Sunday following the first Monday in June. more

Southwest Baptist Track and Field team will send seven to the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Track and Field Championships later this month. Six female and one male Bearcat qualified from marks made earlier in the season. The Championship will take place on May 23 through 25 in Emporia, Kansas. more

Saturday, May 18, was a perfect day for the Kenny Coffey Memorial Golf Tournament at the Bolivar City Golf Club. The tournament was organized by friends and family of the late Kenny Coffey with the proceeds going to St. Judes Children’s Hospital. “We had a wonderful turn out for the tournament,” said Tom Wilson one of the organizers of the event, “and was excited to raise $6100 to be sent to St. Judes. We all want to give a big thank you to all the sponsors that went above and beyond helping make this such a success!” more

The Lady Liberators closed out the regular season last week with three solid wins as they head into districts this week. Following a 3-0 win at Hillcrest Monday night, May 6, Bolivar hosted Camdenton Tuesday, May 7 for the final home match of the season. With a large home crowd in attendance to celebrate senior night and the retirement of longtime coaches Steve Fast and Jeff Edge, the Lady Liberators went on to beat Camdenton 3-1 for the seniors’ first win against the Lady Lakers in their four year career at BHS. more
