James Hanger is entering his fifth season at the helm of the SBU women’s volleyball team beginning in Fall of 2024. Across the previous four seasons, he has turned the program around finishing with 14 wins the last two seasons, the most in back-to-back seasons since 1987 and 1988.

On Saturday, June 8, 106 4-H youth ages 8 to 18 put their shooting skills to the test. Polk County 4-H once again hosted their annual 4-H shooting sports competition for current enrolled 4-H members. The youth competed in archery, air pistol, smallbore (.22) pistol and smallbore (.22) rifle. The participants represented 13 counties in southwest Missouri.

Liberator soccer will kick off its 30th varsity season next month. In the first 29 years, Coach Steve Fast has led all but the inaugural season. Fast took the reins as a new coach in 1996 with limited soccer experience and was later joined by assistant Jeff Edge. Together, the two have been on the Liberator sidelines for nearly three decades. And together, they closed out their final season on the pitch this spring.
