Christmas at Fellowship Park features Lindley Creek concert, food, live nativity and more

Posted

To kick off the opening of their new Fellowship Park, Bolivar First Baptist Church invites all to join them from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3 for ‘Christmas at Fellowship Park.’

The new community park is located on the corner of Springfield Avenue and Locust Street, just east of the church.

“Many people will refer to it as the former white house lawn,” says event organizer Cheri Jones. “Although we were sad to see the original white house deteriorate beyond repair, Fellowship Park extends the white house tradition of welcoming all to church and community events to be held here.”

Jones says the first such event is ‘Christmas at Fellowship Park’ to take place after the Bolivar Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Christmas Parade.

“Many people will be in Bolivar for the parade and our church thought this would be a perfect time to invite families to continue celebrating and come see the new park,” says Jones. “There is no charge for anything at the event and there will be something for all ages. And, we want to emphasize that this event is being made possible by many, many volunteers and other groups beyond First Baptist Church. The church is just hosting, but it’s really about community.”

What’s happening at ‘Christmas at Fellowship Park’?

  • Live Nativity by the Bolivar Open Hearts United Methodist Church
  • Free hot dogs, hot cocoa and cookies
  • Meet Santa and Mrs. Claus
  • Activities for children including the reading of the Christmas story of Jesus’ birth
  • Special Christmas performance by bluegrass band, Lindley Creek

For more information about the event, please contact the church at 417-326-2431 or follow the First Baptist Church Facebook page.

More about Lindley Creek

Lindley Creek is a Missouri Ozark Mountain family band that frequently performs at Silver Dollar City and can be heard on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction. Covering a wide variety of musical styles, Lindley Creek puts their own touch on classic rock, country and gospel music.

“At ‘Christmas at Fellowship Park’ the band will feature lots of traditional Christmas music, some new tunes and lead us all in some good old-fashioned caroling,” says Jones. “I really encourage all to come and enjoy their music. It’s so good and so fun to listen to and sing along with. It’s very special to be able to have Lindley Creek join us during their busy Christmas season.”
