Area teams joined the Liberators on the course with the anticipation of possible bad weather interrupting the tournament. However, other than a little shower mid-morning the day was perfect for golfing.

The 2023-2024 Wrestling season ended at the MSHSAA State Championships on February 23- 24 in Columbia MO at the Mizzou Arena. Bolivar had four qualifiers, Sydney Waters (29-13), Maddux NeSmith (31-11), Cooper Moore (42-4) and Mason McCurry (41-4). They ended the state tournament with two state placers. Cooper Moore (144-pound wt. class) won by fall over Robert Buehre (Festus), won by decision over Leo Buchheit (North Point), and won by fall over Austin Hunter (Ft. Zumwalt South) which took him to the Finals. He lost by major decision to an undefeated Cody Culp (Hannibal) and brought home the silver medal.

The absentee ballots for the April General Municipal Election will be ready for voting on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024. The Polk County Clerk’s office will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday and open through the lunch hour for absentee voting. Those casting a ballot by mail must make sure their written and signed request states the reason for voting absentee and an address to which the ballot should be mailed. Those requesting ballots by mail must make sure their written request for a ballot arrives at the County Clerk’s office by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024. The deadline for casting an absentee ballot in person at the County Clerk’s office is 5 p.m. the day before the election, Monday, April 1, 2024. The County Clerk’s office will also be open for absentee voting on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 8 a.m. to noon.
