Sheriff’s Office searches for man considered ‘armed and dangerous’

Posted

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for a man considered armed and dangerous in the southwest part of Polk County.

Polk County Sheriff Danny Morrison said deputies responded to South 77th Road, south of Mo. 215, in the Morrisville area for a residential structure fire this morning.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found a man, who owned the home, fleeing the residence while armed with a rifle and a handgun. The man fired several rounds at law enforcement before he went into a wood line near the area.

Morrison said the man — described as a white male with a dark jacket and dark clothing — is considered armed and dangerous.

Multiple law enforcement agencies have responded to the area and set up a perimeter. People are urged to avoid the area.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office will release more information as it becomes available.

If anyone has information to share about the incident or the man’s location, please call 911 to contact the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
