John Guy Dolloff, 35, of Bolivar, was arrested on Nov. 8 on five charges related to a break-in at a storage unit. more
On Friday, Nov. 8, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the Humane Society of Missouri (HSMO), and the Animal Cruelty Task Force (ACT), executed a search warrant at a house on Highway 13 in Brighton. Twenty-seven dogs, including very young puppies, were rescued from the property located near the Polk and Greene County line. Reports claim numerous dogs were deceased. more

The caller stated Thomason had been drinking and taking Klonopin, a benzodiazepine drug used for panic disorders and alcohol withdrawal symptoms. more
Polk County, Missouri — The Polk County Prosecutor’s Office announced today the dismissal of the homicide case against Corey Nielsen, following an extensive review of the finalized investigation and deliberation by a panel of local community members having heard evidence from the lead investigator from the Missouri Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC). The decision was made based on the evidence showing that the defendant acted in defense of others under Missouri law. Our office also consulted with other county prosecutors as to the application of law and likely trial outcomes. more
