Butterfield Residential Care Center welcomes Ash Carrel, LNHA, as the new administrator for the facility. Carrel has been serving as the administrator in training since January 2024. She replaces Tammie Callaway, who served as the director of Butterfield for 17 years and 36 total years working for CMH. Callaway is retiring April 3. more

The Polk County Genealogical Society (PCGS) will once again be offering the service of placing flowers on graves for Memorial Day. Orders may be made from March 25 through May 3. The choices will be either a small spray placed by the stone or a saddle placed over the top of the stone. The cost for the saddle is $50 and the bouquet is $20. Deliveries can be made to cemeteries in Polk County. more

The Bolivar Woodcarvers club welcomed Vic Hood, from Franklin, Tennessee, on Tuesday, March 26, for a class on carving wooden busts. Hood and his assistant, Gene Graham, travel the country holding woodcarving classes. This marks the 18th year that Hood has brought his expertise to the Bolivar club. The class was attended by five local wood carvers as well as one from Nebraska, one from Arkansas and one from Kansas City. The class was held at the home of David and Nancy Hale. When Hood isn’t traveling giving classes, he also works on many historical buildings doing renovations. more

Always promoting public health through high-quality healthcare, education, and environmental health inspections. The nursing staff provides routine services including vaccinations and disease screenings, as well as foot care for seniors. The PCHC are proud to partner with schools and organizations to provide group education on health and safety topics while promoting individual education on topics such as car seats and safe cribs. The local environmental health staff performs restaurant and daycare inspections to ensure the spaces in which we live are safe and sanitary. Additionally, PCHC has the privilege of serving families through programs like WIC, Show Me Healthy Women, and Wise Women. more
