Michael Wayne Brockert Jan. 17, 2024 Michael Wayne Brockert, 76, passed peacefully into eternal life with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Jan. 17, 2024. He was born in Humansville, graduated from Bolivar High School, received his B.S. in Business Administration from Southwest Missouri State University, and earned an MBA from UMKC. Mike served in the National Guard as a Medic, and he began his career as a Computer Programmer at the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis. He continued his career as an IT Management Consultant for Arthur Young & Co. and worked for a number of years as a Sprint an Information Technology Manager and as a Consultant. Mike and his wife Vicki enjoyed traveling and working from coast to coast together in IT for many years. Mike concluded his career as a national IT Management Consultant on engagements in Florida and Silicon Valley, California. He was an avid KC Royals and Chiefs fan and enjoyed living in Jacksonville Beach Florida and traveling to Hawaii and Europe. During retirement, Mike was active in politics and promoted progressive ideas. He is survived by his wife Vicki; brothers Ed (Gerri) Brockert and Larry Brockert; sister-in-law Cheri Prewitt; children Jeff (Heather) Brockert, Dan Brockert, Jacquie (Adam) Rollins, Julie (Phillip) Gardner; and his beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to City Union Mission. We will hold Mike’s memory in our hearts forever. more

The Polk County Extension Center will be holding a Private Pesticide Applicator Training on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the Polk County Fairgrounds, 4560 S.100 Road, Bolivar. The class will start at 6 p.m. and conclude around 9 p.m. There is no cost for the training. Terry Halleran, Regional Agronomy Specialist, will facilitate the training.
