The Board of Aldermen meeting on Jan. 23 had a special ceremony to honor Kristi Thomson for her honorable actions on Nov. 22, 2023. As the BH-FP reported Kristi (Roe) Thomson saw her neighbor’s house on fire at 1:55 a.m. The house on the 110 block of North Elgin Avenue, housed 15-year-old Anakin Rhodes who was home alone at the time. Thomson was able to awaken Rhodes, therefore saving his life.
