Coach Nathan Rothdiener’s clipboard holds a dwindling stack of papers, each marked with just one big, black number. This week, the tennis Lady Liberators ripped number 22 from the top of the stack as they earned their 22nd win on the season along with their second consecutive State Final Four berth. The Lady Liberators have been tearing through the stack of numbers on Rothdiener’s clipboard and the postseason, racking up wins and titles in October. As the 2025 team tallies wins, the current athletes are also adding to some impressive streaks for the program including three straight Conference titles, six consecutive District titles, and back-to-back State berths. With a quarterfinal win over Odessa Monday, Oct. 20, the Lady Liberators punched their ticket to another Final Four and set their focus on the next number on the clipboard. more

The Bolivar Golf Course was bustling with energy on Saturday, Sept. 6, as it hosted the highly competitive SWCCCA Cross Country meet. More than 2,000 runners from over 80 high schools and 60 middle school teams from across the region competed in a day filled with races. Bolivar’s Cross Country teams turned in strong performances across all divisions. more

The SBU soccer teams had a spectacular Sunday afternoon in Bolivar, sweeping the University of Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars. Both teams earned three points to the conference standings with their victories 1-0 (women’s) and 2-1 (men). This is the first time both teams have won a conference doubleheader since 2019. more

SBU football returned to action for the second week of the season as they took on the Roosevelt Lakers Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats held the lead throughout the majority of the game and came away with a 40-34 victory. This win gave head coach Paul Hansen his first win as a Bearcat and moves the team to 1-1 on the season. more

The tennis Lady Liberators continued their winning ways in a whirlwind week of team matches and individual tournaments, coming home with multiple medals and tournament titles. In four days on the court last week, Bolivar improved their team record with two wins on the road on back-to-back nights before turning to all day individual tournament action at the Springfield Invitational Tournament and the Warrensburg Doubles Tournament later in the week. more

Just eleven days into the 2025 tennis season, the Lady Liberators have already logged a dozen matches including an interstate tournament and two days of quad duals with two more full day tournaments set for this week. Coming off a Class 1 State runner-up finish last fall, Bolivar returns four of six starters while looking to fill the gap left by the graduation of Sofia Smashey and Stella Scowden. more
Bearcat Football crosses into strange territory as there is a new leader at the helm for the first time in over 10 years. The winningest coach in program history, Robert Clardy, stepped down from the head coaching role, opening the position up to a new up and comer across the Midwest. After consecutive highly successful seasons, Head Coach Paul Hansen steps up from NAIA to Division II, to lead the Bearcats. more
