Putts for Paws golf tournament returns Aug. 10 to support Polk County Humane Society

Posted

The Polk County Humane Society (PCHS) is inviting area businesses, golfers and

community members to tee off for the third annual Putts for Paws Golf Tournament on Monday, August 10, at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar.

The four-person scramble is the PCHS’s largest fundraiser of the year, with proceeds helping provide food, shelter and medical care for more than 1,300 dogs and cats that come through the shelter each year.

“Putts for Paws is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together to help raise money and ensure the animals in our care, at the shelter and in foster, are healthy, safe and ready to find a loving forever home,” said Denni McColm, Polk County Humane Society board treasurer.

“As a nonprofit, we rely on donations to support our dedicated staff and provide vaccines, medical care, food and supplies for the more than 200 animals currently in our care. We continue to experience an overwhelming number of animals being surrendered, abandoned or dumped. There is never a shortage of animals needing our help,” McColm continued.

Registration is now open for four-person teams, and businesses have multiple opportunities to support the event through sponsorships.

The cost to enter a four-person team is $500, which includes golf, cart rental and lunch provided by Curly Que BBQ & Catering. Hole sponsorships are available for $150. The tournament is limited to 30 teams to provide an enjoyable pace of play, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

The Polk County Humane Society extends its sincere appreciation to the businesses that have already committed their support for this year’s tournament. Shelter Champion Sponsors include C&R Auto Glass and Branstetter, Cole & Lightfoot Attorneys at Law. Premier Sponsors include Token & Friends Pet Services and Yeargain Excavating.

Additional teams and sponsors are still needed to help make this year’s event a success. Businesses interested in supporting the tournament are encouraged to register soon to receive promotional recognition before the event.
