Lakyn Breesawitz from Bolivar was named to the Fall 2023 Dean's List for exemplary academic performance at Westminster College in Fulton. Breesawitz is a Freshman at Westminster. The Dean's List recognizes Westminster students who have shown high academic performance during the past semester. To be included on the Dean's List, a student must achieve a 3.60 semester grade point average with at least 12 hours completed that semester.

HeartSong is a group of 13 musicians from Evangel University directed by Dr. Bonnie Jenkins. The group is in its 31 st year and travels nationally and internationally in leading worship and worship concerts. HeartSong also travels in the U.S. having been in all 50 states and leads worship at national Assemblies of God events, District Councils, youth camps, churches, youth rallies, Teen Challenge ministries, and Christian schools. HeartSong is also very active on the Evangel campus leading worship at various functions including University chapel services.

The Polk County Extension Center will be holding a Private Pesticide Applicator Training on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the Polk County Fairgrounds, 4560 S.100 Road, Bolivar. The class will start at 6 p.m. and conclude around 9 p.m. There is no cost for the training. Terry Halleran, Regional Agronomy Specialist, will facilitate the training.
