The absentee ballots for the April General Municipal Election will be ready for voting on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025. The Polk County Clerk’s office will be open 8 a.m to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday and open through the lunch hour for absentee voting. Those casting a ballot by mail must make sure their written and signed request states the reason for voting absentee and an address to which the ballot should be mailed. Those requesting ballots by mail must make sure their written request for a ballot arrives at the County Clerk’s office by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The deadline for casting an absentee ballot in person at the County Clerk’s office is 5 p.m. the day before the election, Monday, April 7, 2025. The County Clerk’s office will also be open for absentee voting on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 8 a.m. to noon.

This scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance for the tools and equipment necessary for students entering professions such as nursing, welding, teaching, automotive repair, and more.

The Polk County Democrats August meeting will be held on Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Smith's Restaurant with dinner optional at 5:30 p.m. Our agenda will include discussion and review of the results from the August Primary at the local, state and federal level. Also, on the agenda we will be presenting the new slate of officers for 2024-2026. Voting and installing will follow the presentation.We will be finalizing plans for our Country Days Booth on Sept. 7. We are still looking for someone to head up this committee so let the chair know if you are interested. Also, you will hear updated opportunities to support Democrats across the county, state and federal level. The Missouri State Democratic Party is in need of volunteers to help with many candidate campaigns including our own Rich Horton candidate for MO State Representative of the 128th District.
