The Bolivar School District has called for an election on Nov. 7, 2023, for the residents within their boundaries. Absentee voting started on Sept. 26. The Polk County Clerk’s office will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday and open through the lunch hour for absentee voting. The deadline for casting an absentee ballot in person at the County Clerk’s office is 5 p.m. the day before the election, Tuesday, Nov. 7. The County Clerk’s office will also be open on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 8 a.m. to noon. more
Polk County Democrats will be meeting on Monday, 16 at Smith's Restaurant. Dinner is optional at 6 p.m. with the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Our guest Speaker will be Alex Johnson, Field Director of the House Democratic Campaign Committee. He will be updating us about state campaigns and issues and what we can do to help and get involved as a committee. Please bring a friend for an enlightening evening. Mayor Christopher D. Warwick of Bolivar has thrown his hat into the ring for state representative. The district includes all of Polk County and a portion of Hickory County. A Republican, he will appear on the August 2024 primary ballot to face off against any fellow Republican candidates. Currently, Warwick is the first to publicly announce his campaign. more
