Zion Ladies Guild make donations
The Zion Ladies Guild held their annual chicken and noodle fundraiser Saturday, Nov. 5. The guild provides funds to several area charities every year, this year they raised $3100 to be divided among the charities. Those that receive funds are House of Hope, Alpha House, Shop With A Cop, SOAR, COM, and Care to Learn, all Bolivar located charities. more
Laura Miller, a nurse at Polk County Health Center, offers her time as a bell ringer for the Red Kettle Campaign at Woods Supermarket. Through the campaign, the community can donate money to support local families. Volunteers are needed to fill bell ringing shifts by signing up online at bolivarcom.org/bellringing.

Just in time for his 100th birthday on Nov. 10, Bolivar resident Gineth Hudson will celebrate this Veterans Day weekend by reflecting on his years of service in the 21st Infantry, 24th Division of the U.S. Army as a World War II veteran and a recipient of a Purple Heart while stationed in the Philippines. more
