The swimming Liberators took an unplanned break from the pool to start the second half of their season but appear to be making up for lost time now. Winter break and winter weather allowed BHS swimmers only one competitive meet and limited practices in a four week span during late December and early January. With three big meets now complete in just a week’s time, the Lady Liberators have picked up pace in their schedule and in the pool. more

The Liberator swim team returned to the pool for competition just over two weeks ago ready to make some waves. After graduating only one senior last year, multiple returning swimmers have big goals this season and are ready to build on experience. Several newcomers are eager to join them. For some, this is their first exposure to competitive swimming. In his 5th year at the helm, Coach Kyle Smith still has the same goals for all his swimmers. “We want them to learn every competitive stroke. We want them to learn about competitive swimming and all it has to offer.” With this in mind, several of these Liberators will look to compete in every available event at least once this season. more

The Pirates took the championship at the Morrisville tournament for the first time since 1998. They played New Covenant Academy in the first round and won 80-44, in thesemi-finals they played Ash Grove and won 58-56. Advancing to the first place game going against Conway they won that game 87-72. more
Landon Duchscherer, a senior at Marion C. Early High School, took second place in the MSHSAA Class 1A State Cross Country Meet November 3, 2023 with a time of 15.55.20. Duchscherer was undefeated during the regular season and finished only seven seconds behind the three time state champion Riley Blay from West Nodaway High School in his final race. Recently, he finished ahead of more than 5,000 participants to win the 29th Annual Springfield Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. He is the son of Kevin and Jane Duchscherer of Morrisville, MO. more
