Friday, Dec. 20, the Aurora Hound Dawgs traveled to the Bolivar Field House to challenge the Bolivar Liberators basketball team, although there has been some conjecture as to a mascot name change to the Running Dogs, I could not find any proof of this.

The “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie franchise has had quite the history. In 2019, jokes about the poorly-received first trailer were everywhere in pop culture. Paramount, to its credit, took the vitriol as constructive criticism and spent months redesigning the main character to have a more palatable appearance. When the upgraded movie was released in 2020, all was forgiven and the movie was a hit.

It was a Saturday sweep for SBU basketball as both men’s and women’s teams beat Lincoln University. In the GLVC opener, they welcomed the newcomer Blue Tigers with open arms by beating them a combined 54 points. Women’s basketball won their game 102-67 while the men won their game 75-56.

The Liberator soccer season ended last week in a double overtime loss to Logan Rogersville in the District 5 Championship. Despite the heartbreak ending, Bolivar recorded an impressive season with a string of accomplishments to cap off the BHS careers of 11 seniors and usher in a new era under first year head coach Jason Ingold and assistants Zach Waters and Zach Warwick.
