Rita Lemmon, Assessor of Polk County, announces that the board of equalization will begin meeting at 10 a.m. Monday, July 15, at the office of the Polk County Commission to hear those who disagree with the values of real estate established by the assessor for tax year 2024. The board tentatively plans to conclude the hearings by 12 p.m. on Friday, July 19. more

Bill and Mary Little, of Bolivar, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary at Hemingway’s with a private family dinner on Saturday, June 29, sponsored by their children and grandchildren They were married in St. Louis at Euclid Baptist Church on July 2, 1954. They met at Baylor University and were engaged their senior year. After marriage they lived in Ft. Worth, Texas for six years before moving to Bolivar in the fall of 1960, where Bill began his teaching career at Southwest Baptist College. They have three children, Bliss Little (Broome) of Tempe, Arizona, Blye Little (Moore) of Springfield and Dr. Blake Little (Missy) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Brittany Moore (Eichhorn), Woodstock Georgia, Hayley Moore (Valdez) of Centerton, Arkansas, Taylor Little (Johnstone) of Kansas City and William Little (Madi) of Celena, Texas. more
